New Toy

I picked up this slow cooker on weekend and left it at home full of lamb shanks, red wine and various other bits and pieces on a low heat - I put it all together this morning and then headed off to work.

I hope that after 9-10 hours of cooking we get something very yummy out of it when I get home...

I will keep you posted.

  1. They are brilliant things. Ours gets a fearful hammering over the winter months here in the Riviera of the Antarctic.

  2. It was a truly awesome thing to see (and taste) the meat was falling off the bones and the whole house was filled with an amazing aroma when we got home. Even better there are a whole lot of curry recipes as well...

  3. The 'low' setting on mine is a bit too high to set things up at breakfast and not have them a bit overcooked and tough by dinnertime - but what I've found is that if you don't worry about defrosting the meat, throw it in frozen, that actually works really well.
